Today, the
Disney Parks Blog has a post about the groundbreaking for Walt Disney World, which took place 45 years ago today, May 30, 1967.
Among the photos at the blog post is this one of a booklet given out to the groundbreaking attendees, which has a concept illustration of the Magic Kingdom and surrounding areas. It is interesting to see the route for the Walt Disney World Railroad as shown in the illustration. Of course, it didn't end up being built that way, and this illustration may not have even been a very serious proposal. But the route did have more curves and much more track than the final version. And instead of going straight along behind Fantasyland, the track took a curve to the north, giving even more space behind Fantasyland than what is there now.

Interesting to see, I think.
