I know we are way off topic for this thread, but... I hated those lights!

They were like yellow police lights and totally conflicted with the whole "wild west", authentic steam engine aura. If memory serves, these lights were on for several summers at PCJGTRR as #9 pulled on the mainline. #7 disappeared for a while and came back refurb'd with "Lois" on the side of the new cab...as seen here:

I wonder how they re-configured the tape narrative? ...play it in a reverse! HAHAHA!

Wow.... its been forever since I posted here...
Its nice to see the Stone Mountain RR thread still moves along a little.

This is not the first time the Stone Mountain railroad has reversed direction.
In the 1990's we use to run the hayride trains in reverse direction.
There are more right hand curves than left hand curves in the normal traffic pattern.
By reversing the train's direction, the wear on the wheels, flanges and rail is reduced.

They have 4 (I think) track mounted flange lubricators out there but those tend to be nasty.
I personally think they would benefit from the Snyder FlangeLube devices we use at CSX.
Dry.... not oily and messy. They are a heck of a lot easier to maintain.

Looks like it would work, but you'd have to figure out how to build the bracket and how to bolt it to the locomotive truck or frame - remember, on a Steamer you have the pushrods and valve gear linkage in the way at that location...

If it has to be in a horizontal orientation to meter out the sticks properly, you might have to make a Custom one for steam engines that sits in the same plane as the rail, and has a curve at the very tip to press the lube sticks on the wheel flanges.

Or if it works vertically hang it above the wheel and hidden under the footboard to get it out of the way of the driver linkages and rods.

Oh, and it has to be made in Black powdercoat so people don't "see" it under there. White would be rather obvious.

Could the lubricator be mounted on the last wheelset of the train?
