I found this in the USC Digital Library while browsing around:

This is the engine under restoration at Travel Town, (back in the day):

Is it being restored as a steam dummy?

I'd love to see it restored like that! But I think the restoation will have it looking a little more conventional

This is how it's looked at Travel Town through the years:

Image

You'll notice that it started life with what looks like a saddle tank and later it was converted over to those square sided tanks. All the "body work" is different as well, and the stack was changed to a straight one from that little diamond stack.

Was this the look it was given for the grand opening of Union Station in Los Angeles? That was in 1939 I think. At that event it was masquerading as steam-dummy #2 of the Cahuenga Valley Railway.

Here's a picture of what that little steam trolley line looked like around 1888. It was a narrow gauge setup, and SP #20 is standard gauge:

I finally finished the front spring hangers for the 219. This means work can resume on assembling the drive components. Rain has been called for this Saturday so I probably won't come out, but as soon as there is a dry weekend I'll be back at it.

C'mon out!

Hey guys,
What's the state of the SP #20 right now?

I'm a member of the Los Angeles Live Steamers (right next door), and now that I've got a lot more free time on my hands, I'd love to lend a hand.
