There is a little bit of interest in Tweetsie here, so I thought I would share some sad news:

http://www.charlotte.com/109/story/539923.html

So much stuff that was in there is gone forever, including original ET&WNC RR timetables, lanterns, and many photos.

From what I read the family that runs Tweetsie is more upset with losing the stuff inside the depot, more than the depot itself! It is ashame to hear of them losing all that stuff. But the good way to look at it is that the winds didn't spread the fire to include any locomotives or rolling stock.

It seems the above link has stopped working, so here is a new one from a local news station with some video:

A real tragedy. We are planning to go up there soon.

My Family and I go there all of the time. And apparently everything that could possibly go wrong for them is going wrong  . They are having some terrible lease problems so they might have to move. We've been going there for over a decade now, and I love it's beautiful current location.

i heard it was an electrical fire. some stuff in the charred ruins was intact and in good condition, box of pictures, i think a box of model trains, a switch lever thing, and a baldwin locomotive builders plate, and some other stuff. everything else, pictures, timetables, even the Gene Autry display is gone, such a shame.

I have never been to Tweetsie before, but it such a shame that everything is gone. At least the motive power and rolling stock is still around.
