The following are the dates - Friday, May 28th - Oakland to Los Angeles, Tuesday, June 1st - Los Angeles to Oakland.

This would be a fun outing but I'm not sure it's a bargain. When the dome cars went south for the 3751 excursion the fare was about $55 each way as I recall...

Do you get a bedroom to yourself? And what constitutes "limited snack and beverage service"?

It's open seating in the car. Bedrooms would be set up as suites for day use.

Limited beverage and snack service can be translated to mean beer, wine and soft drinks - with some food served during the trip. We won't be doing full sit down meals. Nothing fancy. A light lunch and dinner.

As stated, it's a positioning move.

Should be a nice relaxing ride down and back.
