Does anyone know if the California Zephyr is leaving Sunshine Plaza for it's makeover to Buena Vista Street? Although Im not sure of the exact date BVS is supposed to be in off the top of my head, Im thinking 1927? Thats still a good 13 years before the CZ. Maybe we could have a model of Walt stepping off of a steam powered Santa Fe train into the warm California Sunshine of Buena Vista Street and the Carthay. After all, the ATSF is was pretty common at one time in So Cal.

Is there a schedule for when the CZ will be removed? Or is it already gone? I haven't been down there since Christmas Eve.

It's still there; I imagine it will leave when they kick into full gear on the BVS construction later in the year (Sept.-ish). Right now they have the new entrance/turnstiles being put in and the Carthay Circle Theater + Fountain center are being framed in. It's only a matter of time before the two ends meet and eat up ol' 804-A.

Well sadly the REAL 804A went to the scarpers torch a while back. The one at DCA is a former CNW F7 i believe.

Wow, the arched awning is already gone. They're moving fast!

I'll admit that I'm the last guy to stick up for a diesel, let alone a non-operating one that was chopped so it's now out of scale, but I will miss the California Zephyr. It was nice to see a train in the park, even if it was just for show.

I would imagine it is probably safe through the summer. All of those retail opportunities won't go away until there is something else to take their place, even on a temporary basis. Disney isn't known for missing the chance to let spending by guests pass them by.

Rumors have the locomotive cab and observation car rear end being preserved, possibly donated to museums.

Well the 804s cab and nose is a real Chicago Northwestern F Unit nose, so I dont see a reason why they wouldnt want to preserve it
