While onboard the DLRR I noticed that at 2 of the crossings, the one by Big Thunder Ranch and the other by the roundhouse there are crossing gates. However, on the service road just after Tommorowland station there is none. Can anyone tell me why? Is it because the road has a gate. Or is that road just used afterhours when no trains are running?

I don't know, the only time I have seen it as a possibillity of being used is during the Tomorrowland station closure, when the Fred Gurley actually whistled for the crossing.

The parade originates and terminates there, so that is a stumper, unless the guard signal is considered enough as in a rural area. There are pleanty of crossings around where I live that have only a red wig wag signal and no crossing arm.

I misread which station he was talking about. For some reaon I was thinking Toontown and not Tomorrowland. There is only about 10 feet of track between Tomorrowland station and the Grand Canyon, so what service area are we talking about "after tomorrowland station"?

The service road that leads from the backstage road to behind space mt just before the train enters the diorama.

I believe the road you are referring to is between the Grand Canyon and Primeval World dioramas and the railroad crosses above it on a covered bridge, not at grade. I don't know of any other backstage roads that cross the line between Tomorrowland and Main St.

The service road in question is before the Grand Canyon diorama tunnel. It isn't really a "service road" since it's gated on both sides, wooden on the park side, chain-link on the other. It's just another access point that connects the main service road and behind Innoventions. There are no crossing gates because it's not utilized by vehicles or foot traffic, at least not very often. The only time I've seen it used is for guest talent groups crossing to the main service road that circles the park from the Tomorrowland side.

The Frontierland crossing is simply a little red strobe light with a crossing sign while the Small World crossing is full gates with minature wig wags. I have pictures, but they're pretty blurry.
