I keep on watching the video of Ollie Johnston at the controls of his engine for the last time (My favorite part of the video is when he is walking towards the cab) and I think that Disneyland should always have the Marie E visit Disneyland on May 15 for 1 day and pull speical trips around Disneyland for the public. I think it would be best of this to keep the memory of Ollie Johnston alive at Disneyland.

I think it is a great idea, but the logistics involved would probably prevent it from happening again. I was there that day and will never forget it. It was truly magical. A great big thank you to the many people that pulled together to make it happen.

That's a wonderful idea Matt, its a great way for people to remember and also a way for people to know about Ollie Johnston. hey if Disneyland decides to get another locomotive, it should be named Ollie Johnston.

Thanks for the complement. (Hello everyone its me SerriaRailwayMatt3, I had to register up a new account because I got a new computer and I cant remember my old password so I had to make up a new one) Anyway back on track to the topic, Yeah I know, they should dedicate a engine to him since he like Ward also loved trains. Sad to hear that the chances of seeing the Marie E come back to Disneyland are slim to none) who knows maybe things will change in the future or maybe they will not, we may never know.

Thanks Steve. Anyway getting back on topic. If lets say the Marie E was able to visit DLR on May 15? Will it be able to pull the DLR's passenger fleet?

I don't recall that the Marie E is equipped with air brakes or automatic couplers. It has it's own rolling stock (a caboose I recall) but I don't see legal authorizing the use of the DLRR stock. It would fit right in on the CP&LE however.

I recall reading that John had an air pump and brake controls added to the Marie, not sure about the knuckles.

I seem to remember Marie E having an air brake in the photos from Disneyland. I also seem to remember Marie E pulling 1 car aside from Ollie's caboose. I don't know if it was a piece of the Disneyland rolling stock or not.

For the Ward kimball event I know they hooked Lilly Belle parlour car to one Freight (RETLAW 2) car.

Ummm... They make (or can make) special AAR-style Knuckle Couplers with ends that fit any non-standard buffers. And when the event is over they slide the old drawbars back in...

The trick is checking for problems early in the process - not the morning of the event.
