But sending the Marshes parts, one at a time, by slow junk to Madagascar, then training local lemurs to do the renovation work, is not particularly time efficient.

As long as the job is done right, I'm not fussy about how long it takes to complete DRR Engine 4. I tend to be a patient guy though.
I'd guess such a consumer would have to be.

They don't mention that on their website.

Then it would be quite a claim to say such in a public forum. I'm sure that it was tongue in cheek though.
Do I detect some lemurphobia in your message, counselor?

If you mean a consumer that doens't take such things (when Engine 4 will be back) so seriously, then yes. That most certainly applies to me.

No sir, no phobia at all. I'm on the same side of the fence as others that responded to your post saying that the people working on Engine 4 were, as you so eloquently put it, "local lemurs" and implying they were not qualified to do the work quickly as if you are the know-it-all expert in this subject manner. One of these days you may realize that you don't know everything, even when it comes to subjects that you've never had experience with. You often come off that way in your posts.

That implies an understanding I'm never likely to step in.

Just don't say anything or at least preface your advice giving posts by saying that you don't have hands on experience with the subject. Roy, honestly, you come off sounding like a big headed know-it-all at times, all full of big talk and stating things as facts when in reality you don't have any direct experience with the subject at hand or at least you never state your experiences to back up what you say with authority.

Your post in this thread is a good example of that. What experience do you have with steam locomotive restorations in order to claim that the work on Engine 4 is being done by unqualified people ("local lemurs") and not fast ("time efficient") enough? Steve hit the nail on the head when he came right out and asked you this:

"You...don't know much about real steam engines and what it takes to rebuild them...do you?"

You never answered his question. That's because you don't.

I don't know if you know how you sound from the other side of the computer monitor, but that's what it seems like.

I think Ill watch this one from the sidelines as most people are. I do not care how long it takes as long as it is quality work. Just a thought, the Marsh isnt really the Marsh anymore if you replace every single part on it. Its just a totally new engine with new parts as is with most steamers left in the world.

My grandfather's hammer - it's had two heads replaced, and three new handles, but it's still my grandfather's hammer.

I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!

Try this:

The attempted jokes which I seek to condemn have been so calculated, so malignant, and so devastating, that this forum cannot tolerate their being ignored, because it cannot survive their being repeated.
