Thank you Polosport for sharing the photos with those of us that are too far from Disneyland to attend the big event. It looks like I'll be adding to my Disney railroad collection soon!

I already am moving my collection into my wife's and my new house and I have a lot more room to arrange everything in. I have to fill in the blank space some how. :D

MiceAge has a photo of the three-rail Walter E Disney:

It's obviously the MTH "old time" 4-6-0--which as most of us know was, in fact, based on the real WDW RR engine. While there are some inaccuracies (like the wood load), this is really the only model of a Disney steam locomotive that was actually directly based on the engine it purports to depict. All othes have been "off the shelf" models painted to look close. Definitely looks like a nice model.

**cough**but it sure could use some passenger cars**cough**

I saw several folks purchasing more than one and then this one shows up on eBAY http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160681438933+&item=160681438933&lgeo=1&vectorid=229466. Somehow that doesn't seem quite fair. Too bad Disney doesn't take pre-orders like the Carolwood Society does to ensure everyone who wants one can.

I agree! that sort of stuff has really turned me off to the "limited edition" Disney stuff. It was really, REALLY bad with the Tiki Room stuff a few years ago :x

Right there in his description:
"I purchased 2 of these engines from the Disneyland Gallery in person on Nov 12th. One for my collection and the other to sell ! ( I love Capitalism) Retail price @ the Disneyland Gallery is $500.00 plus tax. If there are any left! "

No shame at all.
Should he feel shameful? After all--he's right. He's the one "investing" $500 of his own money. It is capitalism at work. He even discloses the original cost, so if someone wants to save $150, they just have to do a little more legwork.

Disney sold out of these engines in one day. Sounds like it was good for them too.

Have you seen Bill Colley's Engineer Badges for sale on the Bay? He sells them for a very reasonable $29. Others have bought them and are selling them for $79. Unethical? Not really sure.

I guess it all boils down to the phrase I learned in 7th grade: Caveat Emptor.

It makes me mad to see these people preying on ignorant people who don't know the item can be purchased from the Park. He is banking on people wanting it right now. The same thing happened with the D23 monorails. It is just as he claims, capitalism at it's finest. A savy person would purchase them all and then resale them at a much higher price to block the futures market. OMG! Oil and coffee.

Wouldn't it be nice if it were possible to purchase Walt's Barn in G scale? I believe the model on display in the exhibit was built by a Carolwood Pacific Historical Society member. What a fine quality piece. Great job! Also, thanks to CP173 for explaining the overhead track layout was constructed by an Imagineer and not entirely by Hunter Railway. The showcase was a phenomenal collaboration among many sources and I would love to buy a beer for each of them (you too, Michael). I'm sending my letter of appreciation to Disney Guest Relations today and encourage everyone who enjoyed the exhibit to do the same. I'm also glad to hear that Polosport may have the opportunity to obtain a Ward Kimball engine during his next visit. I couldn't wait to give it a test run in our backyard railroad empire.

Hmmmm... I wonder if a recognized disorder exists for people who leave the Park early to play with a scale model instead of staying to ride the real thing? I noticed that the engine was pretty lightweight so I would reccomend only attaching 3 or 4 cars on a level track. It doesn't have the same pulling capability on a grade as the Marsh, Lilly Belle or the LGB Fred Gurley.

I didnt mean about the sale, just in his description. Usually dont see that degree of in-your-face honesty.

It's not O scale, it just runs on O gauge track. MTH actually built it to 1:28.8 scale, so as to use O gauge to represent three foot gauge.

I have the Xmas version, which I've already half-bashed. (I'll finish it after the General is done.) It's too big to cut down to 1:48 standard gauge, but it will work in 1:45.2 scale. And BTW, removing the tender "wood pile" goes a long ways in improving the locomotive's appearance.

Stopped by today... Wow! Each exhibit just keeps getting better. Lot's of concept art I haven't seen before and lots of trains-- a winning combination! The back-room was much more interesting (no offense to the artists in the front).

The previous photos did a good job documenting the exhibit, so I've just got a few close-ups.

I just love the negative space used on these ones; very "old-school" graphics and reminds me of my first year of college.

Nice badges Steve.

A number of the concept art pieces in the exhibit were also on the Print On Demand system, but it's hard to tell if all the ones available have been loaded on yet. For example, this wasn't on the system, and yet I want a print BADLY! :D

A recurring word in the gift shop: "WANT!"

I didn't leave empty handed though, this was quite nice:

Already put to use!

Once again, another Quality exhibit. Can't wait to stop by again on a sweeping round 8)

Also took some misc. train photos on the same run...

Thanks for the photos Sam!

While I own examples of all the badges shown, my only contribution were the two in back--the Station Agent and Brakeman badges.
