Today, a milestone was reached.

Back in the fall of 2004, after over ten years of work, Welcome Aboard the Disneyland Railroad was released. The book was a 320-page labor of love, and many people helped to make it a reality: From the Cast Members who patiently answered my questions to Preston Nirattisai, who worked hundreds of hours to create the drawings, to Bill Colley, who offered valuable insight, to Steve Burns, who offered help and encouragement. Many, many other people--many of them Burnslanders--all helped out along the way.

Today, after processing an Amazon.com order, Welcome Aboard the Disneyland Railroad has officially sold out. Aside from a bunch of blemished copies in my garage--some suffering mold from the humid NC summers, some with goofed-up autographs and others missing dust jackets or damaged in shipping--there are no more copies available (except for those retailers who still have them on the shelves). If you own a book, you own one of only 2,000 copies produced world wide.

Thank you to everyone who purchased a book, or encouraged me, or offered criticism. The friendships I have made along the way have been far more valuable than any remuneration. The additional knowledge I've gained about the Disneyland Railroad in those intervening six years is a distant second to the friendships.

As to the future, I don't know what it holds. Work on a second edition has stalled because of family committments, but can easily be restarted. Preston has continued working on new, more accurate drawings, but with a new job and girlfriend, his time is scarcer too.

Once again, thank you. It was a GREAT ride!

Congratulations Steve! I still have my treasured autographed copy that I ordered early on and I still refer to it constantly. It is my favorite book related to Disney.

Just curious, do you remember what other countries outside of the USA that you mailed copies to over the years?

Wow, good question. We've had sales to Canada, France, England, Australia, and New Zealand, off the top of my head. I know there have been others.

Congrats! That's a great milestone for the amount of time and work you put into it and a wonderful book.

Thanks everyone. It's sort of bittersweet. That book has been like family for six years. It feels almost like a grown child leaving the house!

It has inspired me to try and get back to work on a second edition.

Congratulations on this milestone! I still remember how excited I was when I first heard about this book. And then how excited I was to get my copy, too. Thanks for taking that on all those years ago!
