Bill,

You know I am always in favor of your incredible pins.

Fire Geek,
God created policemen because firemen need heros too. Blue is a good color.

Good one IDMT129! I've always heard that firefighters and police officers have a lot in common... they all want to be firefighters!

Blue badges will look nice.

In the DRR badge scheme, what's after "Fireman?" "Apprentice Fireman?" How many steps are there, down to "diarrheic baby passenger," or "railroadkill?"

Technically, Roy, when the railroad first started back in 1955, there weren't even firemen. There were Engineers, and Jr. Engineers. A notation on the bottom of the work schedule for July 1955 indicates that "Assignment of Jr. Engineers as firemen is temporary, pending completion of operational facilities."

As for railroading hierarchy, when I started out I was the "Assistant to the Junior Engine Wiper's Apprentice."

:) Hahaha! FireGeek!

There are good and bad points to both our jobs and everyone is jealous of our pensions!

I would prefer my badge to look as authentic to the originals as the engineer badge. Thank you, Bill as always amazing craftsmanship and detail. Glad to count you as a friend.

What kind of badge did Jr. Engineers wear, if any?

Because there currently is no documentation or photos available showing that Jr. Engineer's even had badges, your guess is as good as anyone else's.

Hello,

My great grandfather was Harley Ilgen.

I have four badges from his time at Disneyland including his Santa Fe Railroad badge and a Disney Fire Dept badge but I don't know if this is what you all were talking about below.

I'm posting three photos...I'm not sure if these links will work. I've never tried to post into a forum thread before. If not, I'm sure I can get the photos a different way.

Ok,
I am not a fireman and have no desire, but that badge is cool! Bill? Maybe? Yes? Bill?

Thank you for sharing those pictures. The reproduction badge Bill had made is beautiful just like the original.
