I was wondering if anyone on here knows the current status on the Marsh's overhaul, which she is due to be back sometime this year. Also there have been rumors floating about that I have come upon that Disney wants to remove the Holliday from service to fix the rod clank that has grown increasingly bad over the past few months. Can anyone confirm this, especially since the DLR is expecting a VERY busy summer with the Matterhorn, DCA, Carsland, etc?

Marsh is said to be back by August with a tender seat.

The Holiday is the next to go and will be out for refurbishment by January 2013. Its our only loco with its original boiler, that might change next year.

Fifty-seven years service from a boiler. Does that come anywhere close to a record?

That's so cool that the Marsh might have a tender seat now, I guess there's just another locomotive that I would have to get a cab ride on now.

I have heard that the C-19s at Knotts ar still using the boilers they received during overhauls in the 20s or 30s--but don't quote me on that...

If the Holliday was to go for refurb, I wonder who they'll pick to do it this time?

They'll probably bid it out again, but I guess we'll just have to see how good the Reedly boys did with the Marsh.

All of our boilers here are original 1923 & 1925. Yes, Steve, I believe you are correct about the Knott's C-19s.

I know it's a horse of a different color.......but IIRC Shay #5 at Cass WV, built 1905, has it's original boiler. It has been in service at Cass since it was bought new.
