I read somewhere that the FWRR used 20-pound rail, is this true? Also, how heavy were/are the locomotives?

According to the bible on the subject, David Leaphart's book Walt Disney World Railroads Part 1, Fort Wilderness Railroad, the rail is ASCE 20 pound rail. The engines' dry weight was 18,000 pounds.

Thanks for the info. After surfing around I found the books you mentioned. Will have to add them to my library. 20-lb rail seems really light, even for a 9-ton locomotive. Could this have possibly led to some of the issues that are discussed in the Broggie book?

Absolutely. David goes into quite a bit of discussion on this subject.
