That's right, #1055. I went to www.groverproducts.com and got not a lot besides an address. You have the right URL.

If you have a compressor---you'll still need the tank to get that burst of air to do that "WAA" sound. The dissipation of air will change the tone. It gets lower in pitch with a tad less air applied. In Kim's car, we used a momentary toggle switch. It was funny--to let the air run out, and it just went: "WAAAAaaaaaaaauuuuuuuuuuufffffstttttt ! LOL!!!

You're right--the monorails used dual horns. Probably mounted on each side, inder the skirting.

I wonder if the new monos will use the same horns.

Oh yeah! I've heard it numerous times and I always looked skyward for a monorail rolling by overhead! :)

Maybe you'll see untreated 4x4s and plywood strips bent into curves?

Yep, I've sen that too...but not above a Taurus since, as far as I know the car can't be driven into the backyard.

I think that any of the old "Day At Disneyland" type historical DVDs would have the sounds of the Monorails on them.

It's too bad that all of that goofin' around with horns and stuff back then (IMO) didn't do anything to seriously promote monorail as a viable transportation system.

I think about that very thing every single workday when I drive home through Downtown San Jose and I'm stuck waiting for a light rail train to pass through an intersection.

I agree, and the Light Rail "industry" has heavy lobbying, big $$, etc., to get their systems in place.

Mostly as a side note, based on what I know I have to shake my head in dissappointment when the backyard Mono makes it into the Guiness World Records; and you still have to wait for a LRT at an intersection. The Seattle Mono was killed, and the Vegas one is in trouble. Yet, in Japan, they're running hourly as we speak. It's a long, almost futile argument, but one I think (IMO) was sidestepped by all that "goofin' around".

Maybe in my second lifetime, I'll make a serious promotion for Monorail in the USA; including a Transcontinental USA Maglev, by Transrapid.

Oh, well..

Time to push this topic back to the top! I wan't to put a monorail horn on my truck! (originally I was going to mount one of my real locomotive horns on it but decided not to because I don't want to burst the ear drums of the inocent bystanders when I honk it, done that before and I wouldn't wish it on anyone!) did anyone who has seen these 1055's on peoples cars happen to see how big of an air tank they used( gallons wise)? and also just to confirm the 1056 is the exact same horns on one manifold? It seems like that would be an easier install as long as they sound the same!

It has been a while since I last saw it, but the installation that I looked at had about a three gallon air tank in the trunk.
