As you may or may not know, when you get your picture taken by one of the park photographers at Walt Disney World or Disneyland, you now have the option of it being posted online for ordering after you get home. The system is called Disney's PhotoPass and they give you a credit card-sized ID badge that you can show any park photographer so that all of your pictures get into your account.

The reason that I bring this up here is that when I logged into the system at home, I noticed that in addition to my personal pictures, there was a tab labeled "Disney's Photo Gallery" that includes 133 professional-quality pictures of various Disney attractions, characters, shows, etc. There are pictures available for each of the four theme parks in Florida, Disneyland and DCA, Disney Resorts and More, and Holidays. Among them are some pictures of Disney Railroads.

Each of these pictures are available for purchase through Disney's PhotoPass site: $12.95 for a 5"x7"; $16.95 for a 8"x10" and $19.95 for a 5"x7" + 4 wallet-sized. Maybe not the cheapest pictures in the world but most of these shots obviously can't be taken by guests so there's some value in them that way. I kinda like the monorail and WDW engine photo myself.

As I mentioned, there's other shots from around the parks as well but I just thought I'd share the railroad-related ones here with you guys.

Matt

Anyway, that's a beautiful picture of the Gurley with the Excursions. It's my new Myspace pic.

I ordered the 8 x 10 Gurley print. I'll post my thoughts when I get it.

Thanks for telling us about this, Matt!

I too like the picture of the WDW Lilly Belle and Monorail. Something most of us will never see, as you said. Unless you get lucky and they bring out a Monorail while you're at the roundhouse tour!

Well, I received my 8x10 print of the Gurley at Main Street Station. The print came nicely packed in a sturdy mailing envelope, and was inserted into a cardboard wrapper inside. Very professional.

The glossy borderless print on Kodak paper is sharp and clear, and the early morning lighting looks striking.

However, be warned!! The print did not look exactly like the one shown. To fit the 8x10 format, a sizable portion of the engine's pilot--up to the coupler--has been cropped off! It really does alter the look of the photo, and basically ruins the photo if you prefer to see your engines "whole." The right side of the photo is cropped as well, up to the very last car, eliminating the view of the handcar.

So before investing your money, you may have to consider whether you can accept a mutilated engine or not.

Too bad; it could have been a really nice picture.
