Here's a broad question coming from someone that hasn't ridden the WDW Monorail very much (unfortunately) because I live so far away from Florida.

How many monorail trains are there now? Have the two beamways always had the same number of trains or have they added/retired trains over the years?

There are 12 six car train sets. Two train colors have been retired because of the crash in 2009. You can read about it on wiki. There are 3 lines. The Epcot loop, the local loop, and the express loop right next to the local loop

Are there plans by the WDWTA to upgrade the current Mrk VI's to MrK VII's or make MrK VIII's exclusive to WDW?

Dennis, I like the Mk VIIs, but they are retro Mk I-styled, and particular to Disneyland. WDW has always had the special Learjet styling, so I would update that styling, for future WDW trains. Personally, I'm partial to the Las Vegas design:
