I knew that about the Railfair thing. I could see why hosting another one could be difficult the way how the world economy is right now. The expensives needed to hold another one would mean lot of $$$$$. But I wished they would had still had these come on at each Anniversary since their grand opening.

I know the San Luis Obispo RR museum would love to have it as its Pacific Coast. They ended up with a bunch of Wards Pacific Coast stuff besides that and a few pieces at OERM. Also the Mark Twains Headlight is PC also

Anyway Locoboy5150, did they tell you any new information about the progress the new museum that I heard they plan on displaying those 2 ATSF big steamers there along with the rest of the peices that are in the old Sacramento Railroad Shop Building?

No, I didn't get the chance to ask any of the docents about future plans for the museum. My wife and I were too busy running around to see as much of the displays as we could after we took the guided tour. The tour was about 30 - 45 minutes long and the guide did not mention anything about future museum plans.

I did ask about another Railfair in the museum's gift shop and the two people there said that there wasn't going to be another one. :(

I am a member of the museum and go there very regularly. Usually take amtrak from Davis. Anyway, from what I hear, they are still working on the land and financial deals for the railroad technology museum to occupy part of the old Sacramento Locomotive Works. Also, the two ATSF steamers sitting south along the river near business 80 will be cosmetically restored and on display outside of the new museum. They will be having a rail fair when the new museum opens, but that will be at least several years away.

I hope they do something with those Santa Fe engines. I know that there was an absurd rumor about giving them to Niles Canyon, but they is NO way they could operate in such a small place. The PLA and GGRM already have problems with 2472 and shes just a 4-6-2.
