Yeah, I could never understand this mysterious draw to the panhandle state as experienced by so many "Right Coasters." No state income tax isn't nearly enough reward; you couldn't pay me to live there! Flat as a flapjack and the humidity hits you like a thousand knives coming out the revolving door in the airport...

I hear the weight of the chassis and the steering are both problems, among other things. I think the new trains may need to be ENTIRELY replaced- although I do hope they keep the new look.

You know the third is still at the factory,(unless the third is supposed to be made from purple) they could use that as the prototype for the Mark VII-II. If purple is supposed to be converted to the third they could redesign the flaws in the train, send up purple convert it and then ship the first two back and fix them. The other question I had was are they doing only three or are they doing all four.

Did anyone see the Monorail in WALL-E???

And what are the chances that Hostess will offer WALL-E themed Twinkies?? (ya think? I could just see the Hostess execs talking THAT one over...)

Not sure who's seen it, but MiceAge did a bit on the Mono problems on 6/17 (Al's article). What will they do with the windows on a hot day??

MousePlanet says the new Monorail is "scheduled" to begin service this Thursday, July 3rd.

Whether that schedule is met is anyone's guess.

according to the recent mouseplanet article, it runs but only until it gets to 85 degrees and while it is running it runs with reduced capacity. I guess the new air scoops didn't work that well. I have another Idea, completely remove the windows and put bars in the frames so the little kids and complete morons can't fall out like they've been doing for the past twenty years  .

Maybe they'll just fill the Mark VII seats with large plush Disney characters and turn it into a "Days of Future Past" moving display?

I rode the Mk VII last night. Pretty awesome! It was up in the nose.... It seems like we went faster than I remember in a Mk V.

The new one actually handles "riding the waves" of the sagging beams along the DL entrance area much better than the Mk Vs--IMO.

It was about 11:30 last night (7/20). They have a nice lighted Monorail logo in the front of the seating. The nose bubble is BIG, but it has a bar in the middle. Pretty spacious. Well worth making the beeline and pushing guests outta the way to sit up there (cap: 5).

A good time to get on for a loop ride is about 10PM (on a night when the park is open until midnight), after they haul everyone out of there after Fantasmic between 9-10PM).

They call it "Monorail RED". They can't seem to agree on whether it's build from Mono Orange or Purple's frame and suspension--or if it's all new parts. Who Knows?

I mentioned that Mono Orange's frame was tweaked too much after that fiasco when the (last day) driver took it too fast on the lagoon beam, many years ago.

Who Knows But considering purple is still at the park(Miceage Al Lutz' October 7,2008 article) they probably disn't use it for the new ones yet. It also looks like they figured out the ventilation problem. They are going to tear the skin off and put in slide down windows in the same fashion as mark I II III and V. Now wouldn't they have saved a lot more money and time by doing that in the first place.
