Don't know if you folks have heard or seen, but the Barn is hosting a tri-tip bar-b-que on Aug 4, 2012.
They have a heck of a line up including Bob Gurr, who will be signing his book, Michael Broggie, John Kimball, and Alice Davis. There will be a barber shop quartet. And I heard the Combine is making a 1955 appearance deced out in her red, white and blue finest. You have to have tickets. Check out the carolwood site.

Saw this as well. Seems like our trips out west are either too early in the month to see the barn, or just during the wrong month! Hope anyone who attends has a great time!

Just added to the lineup: Dave Smith, Archivist Emeritus of the Walt Disney Company, will participate as well. Should be a fun event!

If anyone finds out the current status of the NWRR locomotive from Disneyland and its future from Dave Smith, please post it here. :)

I can answer the question about the NWRR engine. The D23 folks have it and plan to restore it.
They have contacted us (at the Disney Barn) about getting some help. Haven't heard anything for a bit but we hope to be involved in the project when it gets going.

At least that's encouraging news.
Thanks for the info.

I purchased tickets on the Carolwood website and received a PayPal confirmation. Will they mail tickets or do you just show up with the receipt?

It's true. There's the N-scale C. K. Holliday and Retlaw 2 freight train available at Disneyland starting July 27, and the N-scale Lilly Belle available right now at the Walt Disney Family Museum.

Lowell Smith, whose company produced these models, is planning to join us for the BBQ!

Is Mr. Smith planning on selling his goods during the Bar-B-Q?
