Wow! I sure hope that item goes to someone that will really appreciate it.

Does anyone know the history of this piece of rail in terms of its authenticity? I don't think that there is any way to verify that it was from the CPRR but does anyone know how it got out into a private owner's hands and if that owner is trustworthy?

It appears to me that the same seller is also selling the Disneyland Railroad Conductor's Hat that is being disscussed in another forum.

The seller specializes in theme park merchandice. Not an actual person, it is an LLC like Phil Sears collectables.

Ended at $597 and reserve wasn't met.
I thought that would be about the going price for it. Wonder what he wanted for it.

I have a few choice words for this kind of greedy person. Next it will be listed as rare, unique, never offered, dropped twice never fired, saw 2 world wars, was used in Valley Forge, carried by Caeser in his campaign against Egypt, forged from the nails of Noah's Ark, Walt's favorite piece of track, was installed at Disneyland, had a San Francisco cable car ride on it, and fianlly was the 51st signer of the Declaration of Independence. Very famous track piece of $1k.

$999? Wow!

The problem is that there is no way to authenticate this item or if it has been authenticated, the seller didn't mention it in their auction.

I agree with Locoboy. Is there anyway we can make sure it's authentic?

Anyway, even at $999 (which I think is an absurd price) some rich collecter somewhere will buy the piece of track, put it "on display" in a storage closet just so they can say they own a piece of Walt Disney's personal history.

Update!

The track was sold for a sum of $800. Does anyone know how/when the price was lowered?
