Oh how I wish I could just drive to the ranch to ride the combine and/or take pictures. As generous as the price is for what is offered, it is just too much for me.

Hey folks!

Seats are still available for this trip/event. http://www.carolwood.org/event.html

For fans of the Disneyland Railroad, this really is a once in a lifetime event. Once the combine goes to Griffith Park, it will likely stay there when the display building is built around it.

So, this is the chance to ride of 5 of 6 cars of the Retlaw 1 consist together.

Remember, it is a fundraiser and part of the price is a tax deductible donation.

You really don't want to miss out.

Carolwood Rail Trip Rescheduled to May 21 and 22, 2011

As was announced in the last Chronicle, and sent to all people that signed up for the Fall 2010 trip, we had to reschedule the event to next year. The Carolwood Foundation rail trip will now take place on May 21 and 22, 2011. All of the details remain the same: same great speakers, same great trains and same great event at the Pacific Coast Railroad.

First post, and this may have been addressed, but does it seem at all likely that the Lilly Belle will find it's way into this, or a future, event? It'd be awesome to have the full Retlaw 1 set running.

Since the combine has been moved to its new home it may not make the trip either. It is in the middle of the LALS area it will as tough to move out as it was to move in.

Ouch! Why is that?

I'm sort of of the belief that things that move are inherently more interesting than things that don't.

Reason?

1. Try the 23 tracks worth on the LALS property to go over, and even with some blocking, you are looking at a high and heavy object to be moving in and out of the Disney Barn area on a yearly/biyearly basis. If you really want it to run with the equipment at Santa Margarita, it should have gone there, not Griffith Park. It almost sounds like there is some competition between the two camps.

2. The car sits about 18-24 inches below the LALS grade. Again, a possible problem with tipping as you go up the grade.

3. The Disney wacko-nuts. I am not talking about people who like Disney, but the people who worship him. They where there when the car was placed, gushing away. Look people, I think he was a great man, fantastic animator, fantastic mind for producing some of the greatest films ever, and above all a friend to railroading, but please come out of your parent's cellars and find out there is another world out there for you......

I thought maybe they would have put it in the parking lot and moved the fence over but then the windows would get broken.
