There are a few (less than 10) of the Kalamazoo handcars available. The total edition size is 75 units. It was a "pilot error" that made them disappear from the website; they're back now. Sorry for any confusion!

I believe the shipment is now in port in Oakland. If so, we'll start shipping the orders next week.

I'm with you on the price and Accuthat's quality, that's why I also went for the handcar. I have a handful of Accucraft products and I think they make a great product. I will admit that my first Accucraft purchase (not a FWRR item) had some minor issues but they resolved the problem.

I'm actually very excited to receive the handcar, for some strange reason possibly more than the FWRR items. I think it will end up being the sleeper product out of the group. Although I wish those guys would have been able to sell more of them, I kind of like the smaller edition size because of collectable value.

Have have had nothing but good stuff to say about Accucraft. My first Accucraft product was the FWRR #4. I placed it on my level track in the backyard, lit the fire, threw the Johnson bar, and the next thing I knew my train was doing Back to the Future III. The was a huge POP on the straight away. The pilot wheels lifted off the track, flame lept out of the smoke box door engulfing the lamp and smoke stack, and the train was headed right at my toddler. I grabbed him just in time, but had a decent cut on my ankle and calf from the hot engine slamming into me.

Accucraft was very gracious and I talked on the phone with Cliff about my experience. He had one model left and it is now mine. I shipped everything I used that day back to the company for lab testing. Talked with Accucraft designers and technicians. They were never able to replicate what happened nor explain the engine's odd behavior. I did it all right; had the right butaine and water, I was there watching and taking notes from the company when they demo'd the train at the pre-delivery party. so i felt good about that. And again, to this day, I think I got the only haunted FWRR #4 ever produced. My current model runs and pulls just fine, and I love it.

Kalamazoo handcar, can't wait!

Thanks for the responses guys. If you navigated through the rolling stock on the Carolwood site
you could get to the handcar. I noticed today that now it is listed as an item under "trains" and they still look available. I've got a FWRR electric engine and I've got two cars coming. I scored a used Lilly Belle Accucraft on eBay early this year. Have not seen one since. Accucraft stuff is fantastic and Michael C does a great job on these models.

You are right, I guess since the hand car is not powered I've been holding back. That along with the $600+ I just dropped on the two FWRR cars. I saw the handcar in person this past March so I guess I've answered my own question.

Will be ordering one this week.

Thanks!

Tom C

Anyone happen to know the dimensions of the model?
I have a display case that I'm wondering if it'll fit in.

Just received mine today!

If you put it on a piece of LGB track, from the bottom of the tie to the top of the handle in the highest position it's 3 3/4". Here are some other dimensions.

Height on table, not on track 3 3/16" to top of handle.
Platform 3 11/16" x 2 1/2"
Platform Supports Length 4 1/8"
Height between top of rail to top of handle 3 1/16"
Distance between axles 1 13/16"
Distance between wheels 3/4"
Distance between outer edges of wheels 3" (not track gauge)

Although this is just a littler smaller than I had calculated prior to receiving it, this is really nice! I'm very happy with it!

Walt & Ward would be proud of this!

Yes, got my hand car and two FWRR coaches yesterday. Felt like my birthday to myself!?

Very nice peices. I never thought I would have an Accucraft Lilliy Belle, FWRR Electric and these beauties displayed in my office but there they are.

I hope to post the display soon.
