I looked at the MTH website and noticed scheduled for 2013 for the MTH railroaders club are 2 presidential 4-6-0 locomotives and both have Walters paint scheme, does this mean Walter will be released soon? I found it odd they would have the locomotives in the same paint job.

Does anyone have a picture of what it looked like in the display case at the Park? I completely forgot to download my pictures before I deleted them from the memory card.

Penny can you link the picture of what you are looking at? Are you talking about the V&T RR or the C&O RR paint scheme? I went throught the 2013 catalog and found nothing similar in painting scheme. Though their stream lined hudsons look incredible!

I've learned to never say, "never", but don't expect the MTH Walter E. Disney model any time soon. There's a significant barrier to it happening and it's not likely to be removed within the next few years.

Michael,

It looks like MTH is indeed releasing two engines named for Presidents Washington and Lincoln, in a very familiar color scheme. So technically, you're right--this isn't the Walter E. Disney.
I imagine "some" talented modelrs might be able to add different lettering.

With the Lincoln version numbered "16," I suspect the Washington version will be more popular among certain collectors. BTW, at $299, these are pretty much a steal--but there will only be 125 of each.

What happened to the prototypes that were at the Disney Gallery? Weren't they supposed to go into production?

Not sure what happened to the prototype. As for production, CP173 stated, "There's a significant barrier to it happening and it's not likely to be removed within the next few years."

In other words, don't hold your breath. If you want something that can be fairly easily modified, you better pick up one of these while you can.

I've talked to MTH head Mike Wolf on a number of topics.....Disney license being one of them. On every topic about future product the answer was 'maybe' except anything Disney which brought a NO. Not sure what the issue is.....Mike will not say....and those that know will not either......but something happened at some point that will take a LONG time to get pass.
Build it yourself if you really want it.

Wasn't really a particular acrimonious incident; let's just say that Disney and MTH have differences of opinion on certain issues.

Could you be more vague Steve?!?!?!?!

Working in the plastic static model field I know there are many 'inside' events and opinions that affect company's.....and figured it was along these lines.

IDMT129,

Here are some hi-res photos (with and without flash) that may be helpful in your modeling.
