Do they make sound boards that would fit in a Schuco just for the blarring of the monorail horns? And could it be operated from remote or from a control panel by the transformer? And at what throttle speed is prototypical run speed for HO scale. I don't want the trains looking like they are racers, I want them to look like monorails. I am going to model the original track without the hotel spur line added in.

there is very little space in the power unit but you can put an HO sound system in the tail car. I may have some photos I can post when I get home.

Thank you, Jazz.

What color yellow did you choose for your monorail gold? And is the blue skirt trim and black letters correct?

Sorry, any pictures of a Monorail gold are of the tail unit for Doug Burwell's gold train. Met him at the worlds greatest hobby show in Salt Lake and I traded the light installation for much needed spare parts. If it were mine I'd use Floquil C&NW yellow but I think Doug's is a lighter shade. If you Email Doug at Trainfool@AOL.com he can tell you. Doug has had the decals made up but his suppliers printer has been down, I don't know if has new decals yet.

Doug and I are already pretty good friends. Karlg introduced us and there is a lot of good idea and information flow between us. He will be at the Disneyana show in July and I introduced him to someone I now use as my decal guy. The new monorail decals look awesome.

Thanks for the info Jazz

Ok, question about the coloring for type match.

Monorail Red MrK I and II: same red as the wheels of the trains?
Monorail Blue Mrk I and II: what color blue, some lighting it looks like sky blue other times it looks deeper
Monorail Yellow MrK II: Canary Yellow like Retlaw 1? Again the lighting, in daylight it looks yellow, under night lighting over the lagoon it has an orange color.

The sides of the monorail, were they made from aircraft aluminum? They have a metalic look but not the normal shiny properties of polished aluminum. They almost look gunmetal.

Lastly, did the MrK I sport the bow and arrow Alweg logo on the door to the cab like the MrK II?

Yes, they are toys, but with proper coloring and decals, overlooking the small stuff makes it easier to believe they are what they represent.

Monorail gold looks like a marigold color, to me.

As for the shiny metal, I think it's stainless steel, similar to that used on railroad passenger cars.

There is one on Ebay, or check on the link that Karlg posted for the Schuco Monorail site. i have already begun to use him as a resource and friend. he has a few good items i will be needing once mine arrives, and he is very open and helpful. Don't be surprised if there are Schuco MrK II monorails in the near future which are very accurate!!

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with.

the red was actually a tomato red color orangey. the blue is a medium blue color, for reference on true colors refer to the mr replicas, they matched the actual paint chips...by the way, the Mk2 " gold" was called monorail yellow, not gold, actually she was named "yellow bird", I saw the door to this one at disneyworlds monorail roundhouse
