I am more than satisfyed with my Fred Gurley (former Columbus) locomotive. I heard that single chime Lunkenheimer and I thought it was recorded off Fred. It may be a single-chime Lunk, but the bell is too high pitched for it to sound like Freds, and the chuffing is a bit loud and firm. The air pump sounds very similar but hey all air pumps sound similar to each other one way or another. When I heard that sound on #25 I fell in love with Lake George & Boulder #25 and I bought it after months of hard work. Then I bought the Columbus in 2002 for a perfect partner to #25 but #25 was being overhauled and didn't join Columbus until later on. #25 normally handels my daily train duties but when ever she is in for repairs or is not availible for other reasons, Columbus takes over. I do double head the forneys from time to time and I love doing it, double-heading is very fun. :)

They both are attached to the boiler with screws. There is one screw for the sand dome and one for the bell and they both are reached by completely removing the boiler from the locomotive's chassis.

You can see an assembly diagram of the almost identical 23252 "Columbus" Forney locomotive here on the LGB of America website:

The diagram shows where the screws are and what you have to remove to get to them. I disassembled my 23252 locomotive right after I bought it to install an on/off switch for the smoke unit on top of the firebox. It wasn't *too* hard to disassemble. It wasn't as easy as my 2018D mogul though, that's for sure.
