Journey Into Imagination - 11/11/05

The [url=http://www.burnsland.com/wdw/index.html]Walt Disney World Images[/url] section has been updated with six new views of [url=http://www.burnsland.com/wdw/imagination.html]Journey Into Imagination[/url] at Epcot. These photographs were all taken in April 2004. Sure is different from the early days when the line would wrap around the building outside!

Back in '03 when I went to the park I was stunned to find the original Figment/Dreamfinder attraction was nowhere to be found! Later I recall reading a period went by where Figment had been removed from the attraction completely and brought back 'by popular demand'.

Good to see Eric Idle's further presence at at the Imagination pavilion but when was the original attraction canned, and why?!

The original version of Journey Into Imagination closed October 10, 1998. I'm not really sure as to the reason why. Something about the original ride being "aging", "out of date", not fitting in with the Epcot "theme". I think part of it was that the attraction sponsor (Kodak) wanted something fresh and exciting, but they didn't want to pay all that much money for it. A regrettable decision on someone's part. The uproar over the "new" Imagination attraction did eventually bring about the return of Figment. But alas the Dreamfinder is still nowhere to be found.

Dearly departed Dreamfinder - we do miss him.

Thanks for the info, Steve. Just another piece of nostalgia gone I guess...makes me thankful for what's left (I give a huge amount of credit to whoever decided to build Soarin' as an addition, not replacement, to the Land) Sure change gets some getting used to, but I really sort of felt an "on the cheap" atmosphere with this one. (yet, Figment could have dissapeared forever)
