Someday soon, I'm going to build the Disneyland Main St. Station in G-Scale, and I've wondered if anyone else has attemped this.

It will be very detailed, and we'll be using the blueprints--and lots of photos.

This will not be toy-like, but like an architectural model in both approach and detail. If anyone else has accomplished this, I'd like to know.

thank you!

Paul N.

I built one in O scale. Several moves later, it's not in the best of shape.

G! (pun intended) just how big of a station would that be if you build it to scale? I'm thinking that's going to be a rather impressive structure...

I'm in the process of doing a "card model" that should work up to G scale.

In the past I kitbashed two HO Victorian Stations into an HO scale Main Street Station.

I'm currently (when work allows, which has not been much lately) combining an existing card model by disneyexperience.com (http://www.disneyexperience.com/models/station_model.html) with hundreds of photos and blueprints of the station. The Disney Experience card model of the station is not exact, but it is reasonably close to the blueprints. The bricks are not exactly the right size so I am using the photos for the brickwork.

You can see some of what I've done including a "G" scale MSS cut-out at http://www.fototime.com/inv/5D6AEE54FCBA98E

ok kinda on the same note about "G" scale.

How tall would the flag poles on the front of the engines be and what are the dimensions of the flags in 1:24 scale. And are the poles ornate or just plain sticks. I know the candle stick brass flagholders on the pilot of the CK is pretty ornate.

I havn't built a model of it yet, but am working on the details of a 1:29 scale version of the Main Street Station at WDW.
Oh, and Hi. I came across this board and site looking for photos, information, etc while researching the station. (And registered after getting ye ol' webmaster here to fix some links.)
Anyway, I'm working on an Autocad drawing to start, and the more I get into it, the more I realize how much longer the project is going to take me! It might even involve a trip down to clear up a few details...

Now there is one of the problems with "G" scale. You want a 1:29 station so your using Aristocraft equipment. A true 3 foot narrow gauge station would be 1:20.3 some times refered to as "F" scale. Since the #1 track is used for Multiple scales it can drive you nuts.

#1 track as standard gauge Scale = 1:32
#1 track as 1 meter gauge (LGB) scale= 1:22.5
#1 track as 3 foot narrow guage Scale = 1:20.3

Aristocraft 1:29 ?? suspect HO scaled up by 3 since aristocraft had a HO line first.

1:24 is 3 foot narrow gauge if the track was 1.5 inches between the rails and you can buy 1.5 inch track. They just widen the wheels for the #1 (1.75 between the rails) and no one notices.

In other words "G" scale can be whatever you want it to be.

When I built my HO station The platforms and station where two feet end to end, Multiply by 3 to get to 1:29 and you'll have station and platform 6 feet long. That is still compressed some.

When done it will be magnificent!

I decided to model it in 1:29 to indeed match the scale of my Aristocraft equipment. Knowing that the WDWRR is actually narrow guage, I should model it to 1:20, but how do you account for the supposedly 5/8" scale compressed buildings of main street? Gives me a headache. :?
I think it will be big enough with the platform and tunnels that nobody will really notice. Google Earth shows the platform being about 150' by 70'...or about 5.2' x 2.4', with the station itself about 30' x 70' or 1' x 2.4'...still pretty big.
