Just returned to a wet, windy and miserable UK after two wonderful weeks in Florida. Naturally a visit to Disneyworld was a must. As usual the railroad was top of the list, Roger Broggie and Walter Disney were in charge of the trains and looked magnificent as usual. I enquired at the customer service desk and a very helpful lady confirmed that the Carolwood Pacific Room was open and explained how to get over to the Wilderness Lodge. On arrival we could not find it! (the room not the Lodge) but a kind staff member escorted us to the room and I was delighted to see it. To actually stand beside two of Walt's freight cars was a real thrill.
I received my Accucraft Lilly Belle from the USA just before we left for Florida, number 170 so I guess there are not many left now. What a superb model! I will post some photos when I find out how to do it.
Bob.

Bob, sounds like your trip was great! and you're right, being able to stand beside the CP boxcar and gondola is a real thrill!

I was lucky enough to witness the re-dedication of the room at the CPHS October get-together. Michael Broggie gave us a great "tour" around the room. One note that I thought you might enjoy is that he specifically remembers that his "first" CP ride at Walt's was on the very boxcar in the CP Room at WDW!!! Neat, huh?

Time to start planning your next trip..........

Time to star planning my next trip???
I have never visited Disneyland in California so perhaps that will be my next trip, better start saving up!

Does anyone know where Walt kept Lilly Belle when she was not in steam? I know that the cars were kept in the tunnel and the caboose in the barn but there is no evidence of a locomotive shed at Carolwood which seems odd as I am sure a roundhouse and turntable would have appealed to Walt.

Before you go, be sure to buy copies of Steve's books about DRR Engine 5 and the DRR so you'll know about what you're riding and looking at. :)
