Hey, Josh -- this one's for you! :)

Let me second the call for pictures of the HKDL engines. If I'm going to knock them, I should probably at least get a look at them first.

Have the Imagineers considered alternatives where steam isn't feasible? What about a 5/8 scale rendition of the large electric interurban trains that were common about 1890-1920? Very Victorian, probably cheaper to theme, and it keeps obnoxious steam purists off your back. I've never visited Tokyo DisneySea, but I hear it has something in a trolley/L train image.

Expect to start seeing pictures on or around September 12th. That is when the park is scheduled to open. These are some concept pictures from the www.HongKongDisneyland.com webpage. The first 3 are of Main Street USA, the last is Tomorrowland with the train in the background.

So, it's not steam, and it's not even in the park...

But they look like really cool Disney Trains. These are from a Webshots search. This will be one of the trains servicing the new Pennsy Bay Station @ HKDL.

Two of my friends recently went to Japan on two separate occasions to visit the various parks and ride the roller coasters. They spent several days at Tokyo Disneyland and at DisneySea. They both were raving about the DisneySea Electric Railway. It's big, loud, and impressive! The whole thing clanks and rumbles along like the real El trains used to!

Here's a photo of it that one of my friends snapped on his trip:

Stationmaster,

Thanks for the post - very nice. You should see some of the ones around the office... they can get pretty nasty!

I know there are photos out there, but I can't post anything... I guess we'll just have to wait till someone else does. (or September)

Those concept sketches of Main Street must have really taxed the creativity of the artist. They are building-for-building drawings of Main Street USA, in DISNEYLAND!

So, Hong Kong is getting an exact copy of our MS?

The train station looks the same and so does the rest of the street. If you look at the Adventureland concepts they are identical to the Disneyland Jungle Cruise. The only real unique looks are in Tomorrowland.

Don't forget about Hong Kong Disneyland's Frontierland too, which will be the most unique Frontierland *ever* in a Disney "Disneyland" style park. It will be completely invisible!

I've heard that the phase 1 expansion of Hong Kong Disneyland is very slick, so I'm willing to wait it out and see what the future holds for that park.

Its coming and the trains will soon be chugging around the new park in a few months. If the first two locomotives are 4-4-0s, then the next one must be a 2-4-4T, then a 2-4-0, and then another 2-4-4T Steam outlined diesel locomotive. ???
