Hello everyone. My family and I took the behind the steam tour this past week. Wow is all I can say. Ed was great more info than I can remember. I will never look or ride those trains again the same way. What a great time and a great part of Disney history. When I can get the pictures I will post them.

I notice in that first photo that the sand line from the sand dome doesn't seem to extend beyond the running board. Can anyone offer any explanations?

My best guess would be since they aren't really used anyway, the lines were capped off at the running board so they wouldn't be in the way of servicing the running gear.

I don't have time to get the pictures posted right now, but I took a quick look and the Walter appears to be the same way. However, it looks like the line on the Roy does still extend down as normal, though.
