Bulldozer. They were demolished in October of 1998 if memory serves. I was enough of a schmuck to not take a pictue of them while they were still around and now regret it. Ah, Well.

Wood rot took its toll on Cascade Falls so they were demolished. I also regret never snapping a photo of them while they still thundered. :(

There is some more information on Cascade Falls' demise here:

I'm sorry to hear they went through with it! I heard talk of it about the time the subs went out (I had the privelage of one last ride through liquid space the month before, with a video camera!), but never thought they went through with it!

As much as I liked Big Thunder, that mine train (should it still be there) would have been even better. The WDW version always had a bit more "kick" to it if I remember, too.

Don't worry about the subs to much they are coming back, but this time look for Nemo.

Of course, but it will never be the same...

A James Mason Nemo deserved to keep his own attraction, not the clownfish Nemo! Of course, that was the WDW version I'm referring to.

I said in an earlier post that I would get some better shots of the Steam Donkey at DCA. They are presented below for your viewing pleasure.

The Steam Donkey

How the Dolbeer Donkey steam engine got its name is one of the real mysteries of the West. Some folks say it was called a "donkey" because loggers thought it was too puny to merit a horsepower rating. Invented by John Dolbeer, this portable steam engine first appeared in the redwoods near Eureka, California in 1881. The tiny, but mighty machine could be hauled to remote mountaintops and equaled the power of many horses, mules and oxen to reel in huge logs. A few steam donkeys still stand in north coast towns as a tribute to the ingenuity of California's early inventors.

The DRR starter set, part number 72350, from LGB was never sold at Disneyland. It was widely available at LGB dealers though in the 2004 - 2005 time frame. It still pops up on eBay from time to time.
