Yes they definitley should have ordered 4 monorails, considering break downs and such. I still like the old Mark V and Mark VI style better than the Mark VII but I guess I just don't like change. So the 4 Mark V DL Monorails were Red, Orange, Blue, and Purple?

I was just in WDW this past week and saw Monorail Teal on its first day of public operation. I did not get to ride it because I could not get through the crowd leaving the magic kingdom but it looks really nice but VERY similar to their Monorail Blue.

Regarding the story on the monorail frames, they were orignally bulit for the Mark III trains but were recycled into the Mark Vs and the current Mark VIIs. Monorail Mark V Orange was damaged when a pilot "accidently" ran the monorail a little too fast on the Tomorrowland section of track. Mark V Blue was taken off line in 2007 and sent to Canada to be turned into Mark VII Red. Mark V Red left at the begining of 2008 to be turned into Mark VII Blue. Mark VII Red arrived 2 months later and was put online alongside Mark V Purple. After Mark VII Blue arrived and started running, WDI thought that they no longer needed Mark V Purple so they sent it to be turned into Mark VII Orange. I think that if they do build a new Mark VII, it should be Purple to retain the color scheme. By the way, Mark V Orange is still at WDI. You can see it from a MetroLink Train.

It looks like monorail Blue is operating all the time now since it now has the new windows too.

Are these the roll-down windows?

The Mark III's were Gold, green, red, and blue so I would probably root for green or for a new color(I personally would have prefered yellow or gold over orange for the Mark VII) and I think black would look striking with the Mark VII Design While Keeping the Mark V color schemes would be nice, I think it would be better to diversify the color scheme at Disneyland Each new generation(there should always be a red and a blue in honor of the Mark I's)

Although I like Monorail Gold Mk III, I also very much like the new Monorail Orange MkVII.

The new windows are missing the top pane of glass so that they let more air in to improve the ventilaiton. I still want a Purple Mark VII although IDK if WDI will allow it since they retired the colors Pink and Purple at WDW but then again, thats for WDW not DLR.

The new windows have the top portion slide down, like the Mark V monorails. This is window version 3, with the first being the problematic pop-out windows, where only the bottom cracked open about 2", and the second window design being the one with the top pane cut-out.

As for a 4th Mark VII monorail, I vote for either purple or green.

Thanks for the window info. I also like purple, if there's a fourth train.

Sam: can your photo software simulate a chrome train?

That would look awesome, I think a chrome train with black instead of white would look even better
