The reason I asked about the isolated wheels on the hand car, I can see adding a jointed figure or two pumping and a music wire painted to blend into the scenery pushing the hand car in front of a locomotive. JUST A THOUGHT

I see that the FWRR gauge was 30". Will the models be G scale(1:20.3), as if the gauge was 3'?

The FWRR models are 1:17 for just the reason you cite, Roy.

To the moderator, if this is out of line, I'll not be hurt if you dump it.

With the new additions from the CPHS, I would like to mention that my Fess Parker signed, H-L-W, 4-4-0 General might just be going on the market. I say this because a few weeks ago another member listed something on eBay and was (politely) hammered by the media for a sneaky ad doing about the same thing that I'm thinking of doing. Instead of being sneaky, I'm just going to be upfront with my intentions. I just wanted to mention it here before going anywhere with it. (Also, I'm not too excited about paying eBay 9% and then some more $$ to PayPal in what has grown to be some outrageous fees)

It's never been run on track but has been on display in our house since it arrived. Anyone interested could send a private email and we'll discuss $$ then.

POP; I'd love to have a General but I have not yet won a lottery, seems you must buy a ticket and you can't do that in Utah. Anyway good luck and I know what you mean about the fees. OUCH

No problem at all, Pop! It's fine to say that here. The problem before was just what you mentioned - trying to be sneaky about it, saying, "Look what I found on eBay" and then linking to his own auction item. Perhaps it was done tongue-in-cheek, but there was nothing to indicate that.

But nothing wrong with linking to auction items. If I auction something, I'll link to it from here, too. :)

I think we all appreciate it when someone here has an interesting Disney train item, that they give us first dibs, or at least let us know there will be an auction.

I agree with Steve, I don't like the "sneaky" way it was done earlier. And besides--that person seems to have joined just to get word about his auction out.

I accidentally found out the backstory about that so-called "sneaky" poster. There was nothing sneaky about it or him. He was a newbie that didn't feel comfortable just coming out and saying "I am auctioning" this. The response that he got was humiliating to say the least and I doubt very much that we'll see another post from him.

Which is a shame, because he's an interesting fellow that would have had a lot to offer.

It's unfortunate, and perhaps he would have been a great contributor, but perceptions do matter, and so do first impressions. If your first post to a site is to draw attention to an auction of yours in a way that suggests it isn't your auction--and people catch onto this and respond--that's just the nature of the Internet.

Michael, you say there was nothing "sneaky" about "it" (the nature of the post) but that's certainly not how it was perceived.

I'm not sure I buy that someone didn't feel comfortable just coming out and saying, "Im auctioning this," but had no problem saying (and basically lying), "Hey, look what I found on Ebay." If that wasn't meant to be sneaky, it sure came off that way.

Perhaps a lesson for all involved.

Understood, Steve. I agree that it is the nature of the Internet, but it seems to me that Burnsland attempts to be a little more refined and genteel than the flame pits that are other bulletin boards. I can see how people could interpret that post as being Machiavellian, but it turns out that it was actually just a rookie move.
