Well, I spied some Lego(barf) Toy Story 3 trains in the local MegaLoMart. Neither of the sets had track. They might be of interest to some very young, really tasteless children.

Very young and tasteless children? I should wash out your keyboard with soap! Legos are meant to look like Legos, and the Western train they did is great! They really wouldn't be of interest to some very tasteless people like yourself! :P

It's in the mail. That thing is nauseating.

Yep, I believe you're right about that.

On second thought, I'll have to decline your kind offer. My previous response misleadingly misrepresents how I like to play keyboards. Sometimes I say things for yucks, and the implications are the best part.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Toy Story 3 locomotive is based on the Disneyland RR C.K. Holliday. If so, check out Preston's drawings of the engine.

Given the Disney/Pixar relationship, it is quite possible! They wanted an engine that was typical of those days, and the C.K. Holiday was perfect for it! Not to mention conveniently in a Disney park!

If one were to read the first page of this thread, one will notice that this is the case, and Steve confirms it. :)

...Look forward to the Hornby set! Hope it's not too expensive!

Google Hornby R1149 and you'll see the sellers who are taking orders. You can get the set for about 67 GBP( ~ $100.) Keep in mind it's OO scale(1:76) running on HO scale track. That works out to 4' 1.37" gauge.

My issue with the Hornby set, other than cost, is NO TENDER!! It looks pretty neat....but I'll wait and see....

I've noticed that the sellers have removed any photos of the train set. I think the purpose of those initial pictures was to give a rough impression of the set to come, and whet people's appetites.

I've also read that Pixar has been real persnickety about how the train set looks, which I take as a good sign that the Hornby train will be a very close copy of the movie train. I could be entirely wrong - it's happened before. But Hornby and/or Pixar will look REAL bad, if they turn out a set without a tender.
