While looking around for information about SP #20 at Travel Town, I came across pictures of Cahuenga Valley Railway #3 in the USC Digital Library. A very "Disney Railroad" like engine:

Here's another picture of the same engine with its consist:

This line was single-track and narrow-gauge.

That is a very "Disney" looking engine; little bit of Marsh, little bit of Ripley, and little bit Gurley.

More like the "D.B. Harrington". It's a Porter catalog locomotivel of the 1880's. The Harrrington was displayed at Cedar Point for about 20 years, the personal property of the late George Roose. It is now in a museum in Michigan .

I've seen the Porter catalog woodcuts and photos of earlier-vintage Porter engines, but this one threw me. The domes are shockingly breast-esque.

Also odd: in one of those photos I can't tell if I'm seeing the whistle, or some bird standing atop the cab.

Yes, the domes are more typical of what was used from the late 1890s on. Perhaps she received them during a rebuild after a wreck. The whistle definitely looks like it came off a peanut wagon.

Neat! I like the handrail on the somkebox front. Some of the Disney engines could use something like that.

I much prefer the Sucrerie du Cupim. #4, or even the D&RG #1 Baldwin 2-4-0s to any Porter.

The Cahuenga Valley Railway was just a trolley line. I think the above engine and train was a bit of a step up from what they started with:

The above is from http://www.usc.edu/libraries/archives/arc/libraries/regional/photographs1.html

I think the image above shows the engine from the CVRR head-to-head with a car from the cable railroad that met up with it. The caption reads:

"A little Dummey R.R. that run from the Temple St Cabel R.R. at Hoover St to foot at E Hollywood. The Engineer was 18 years old & his brother the fireman 16."

My question about this locomotive is, where's the fuel?

It probably had a coal bunker inside the cab on the fireman's side.
