Talked to a cast member when I was down at the park last week and she told me that there are only two Monorails, Blue and Orange, on property right now. Red is off property for repairs and modifications.

I was down there yesterday, and the two that were running were Blue and Orange.

I wonder if it's another cooling and ventilation fix.

Were the Mark VII monorails built on the chasis of the old monorails?

And what were the colors of the four Mark V Disneyland Monorails?

I don't think so. There were problems with the first Mark VII chassis negotiating the beamway curves.

The Mark VII's were built on the Mark V chassis (which were in part built upon Mark III chassis). The colors of the Mark V's were Red, Orange, Purple, Blue. Purple, the physical monorail and the color, will not become a Mark VII.

Nope. Purple has been gone since the all three Mark VII's came online.

I believe that the modification order went something like this;

Mark V Blue-Mark VII Red
Mark V Red-Mark VII Blue
Mark V Purple-Mark VII Orange
Mark V Orange-reverse engineered at WDI headquarters.

As of the concerns around Red, I was there in mid August 2010, and the monorail system broke down at least 4 times. According to cast members, the cause of the issues was coming from red. If you look at the control panel at Tomorrowland Station, there is a computer that displays the error log for all the trains online as well as the enitire system. I suspect that this has something to do with her pickup shoes, which tend to be troublesome.
