Hi Everyone,

My wife and I recently visited the "Barn" in Griffith park and I posted a YouTube at:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dUkSkAghsXY

or search for "Walt Disney Barn Tour"

It is in HD but the 460 resolution shows it pretty well.

Tom, thanks for the great video. Being on the East Coast, with one long ago visit, it is nice to get to see The Barn in detail. Glad you got to do it! :D

Thanks Sonic...and Unfortu....

It was a ton of fun both getting there, we piggy backed the visit onto a San Diego convention trip, and doing the video. We are from the Cape Cod area and have never been to LA or San Diego. My wife said afterwards "Do you know that you thanked and shook Fred's hand about 10 times?" Fred was great and I wanted to capture as much of his narration as possible.

The Carolwood folks are a great bunch of people!

Very nice video. Thank you for posting it.

I would have liked to hear more about that oddball gondola. The Lilly Belle, tender, cattle car, 2 gondolas and the caboose are indeed on display at the family museum. A 2nd cattle car and gondola are at WDW, and I know of one other gondola on loan by the family. I don't know where the flat car or box car are located. My understanding is Walt had built a buch of gondolas for use on his consist. For the barn to not know where that gondola came from is very interesting.

Ollie's depot turned out beautiful! And I am glad to see Ward's firehat was preserved by the barn. That hat has more Disneyland history behind it than just the Rose Parade.

The combine looks incredible! I can't wait to see it at Santa Margarita with the rest of Retlaw 1. Too bad Lilly Belle (Grand Canyon) can't join in.

Tom, I meant to compliment you on the great music too!

Funny, I've done nine cross-country drives to go to the ESRI (GIS) User Conference in San Diego in the last fifteen years, and squeezed in a Barn visit too. You need to come down to the Unmeeting this year. :)

Hi sonicpt,

Michael Campbell was key to getting us into the barn. He sent about 20 emails, not kidding, out to his volunteer staff and Fred Lack answered at the final moment and got us in. Hence stuff was stored in the barn. Michael Campbell invited us to the combine run but we just could not fit it in for May.

BUT! My wonderful wife allowed me to extend our Memorial Day family WDW vacation so that we could arrive on September 29th and stay until Memorial Day.

So we will be at the un-meeting! I undertand that the "Steam up" will be on the 30th. I have not heard but is there a fee for the events/un-meeting? What does the four day un-meeting agenda usually look like? Any dinners involved, etc? Been hard to find this info.

Thanks! Very excited.

Great little video, lots of good info and a little bad, WE should check with Steve D. but I think the RETLAW I train was not used after Walt's death, and the Grand Canyon was rebuilt starting in 1974 completed in 1976 for the Bi-centennial as Lilly Belle.

Another Plus, we can put a face to another Burnslander.

Tom, good to hear you'll be here for the Un-Meeting (but I don't understand Memorial Day(?))!

Read these threads for info on last years meeting:

There are no fees! For the last few years, the "train tour" has just required a park pass. Of course you pay for your meals.

Michael and Fred really went above and beyond. Cheers for them!

Hi sonicpt,

My bad, I meant to say Columbus Day. I knew my wife should have proof read my posts.

Wow, no charge. Since I join the Carolwood Society, last year, it has been nothing short of amazing meeting the people associated with this group. I am so happy that we stumbled across it and joined. I think Michael and Sharon Broggie have something to do with this? I suspect so.

I hope we can get to WDW early enough for the 29th's dinner, if there is one.
