It's possible. I should purchase Broggie's e-book and check it out. Maybe he'll help me in figuring out how to do it.

It should be pretty easy, I would think. Just use your publishing program to create a PDF file of your book. For my book I had to send them a PDF file, and that's what they printed from. And then if you follow Broggie's route and don't necessarily try to sell through Amazon or other other big online stores, it's just a matter of taking payment and then enabling the download link. No shipping costs, no printing costs - sounds like a pretty good way to go.

You might consider making whatever revisions you want, before releasing in e form.

Also, is .pdf a lossless compression? The question may be important to the quality of your book's pictures and drawings.

Or, you could use the money from the PDF release to fund the printing of the revised version.

It isn't necessarily lossless, but most programs let you set the level of compression. Of course, less compression means a larger file. Broggie's book is a 253 MB file!

It sort of goes without saying that I would make revisions before making a .pdf available.

Honestly, I could make a book at least twice as large as the current version. I have compiled so much more new information in just the last few years. I've got binders full of primary source material.

Steve, I like your idea about using the e-book income to fund a print version. I still like to hold books in my hands.

Same here. Some things are okay as ebooks. And it is convenient have that with me at all times. But when it comes down to it, I like good old-fashioned books the best. Although it is nice to have both versions for some things, such as Broggie's book.

Steve, will you be re-releasing it in an e-book format?

That's the second time that has been asked around here lately. Just a few more times and we will have an official "clamoring". :D

Should I repeat the message a few more times?
