This is the train from Arto Monaco's Land of Make Believe in Upper Jay, NY. Monaco was a high-end toymaker in the 40s/50s/60s, and his park was probably among the more prominent and successful storybook parks of its day, lasting a good 20-25 years before finally closing in the late '70s. There's actually an Arto Monaco historical society in Jay that is currently working to preserve the handful of remaining buildings on the former L.O.M.B. site and transforming it into a public park; maybe they'd be interested in it. Too bad it's been butchered and tagged with a recession-unfriendly asking price.
Yea there's a link in on the page to information, and I followed it to the restoration group's efforts. I guess the current owner of the engine has no interest in donating it to the group. (or the group has no interest in being an amusement ride operator, heh.)
