Now that's a drop dead gorgeous locomotive!

Bravo - fantastic work!

Wow again.....can you tell us the paint brands and colors used (especially boiler and tender trucks). For the driver and pilot wheels....did you paint on top of the paint or was it stripped first, primed, and painted?

I'd wish Bachmann Spectrum would seriously consider making a Lilly Belle version in G-scale. If so this is the perfect prototype.

Me too. Seems it would be an instant sell out!!!!

For paints I try to stick with Tamiya, but I did have to think outside the box on this one. The boiler jacket is a gunmetal (as dark/black as I could find) The smokebox and tender wheel frames were a metallic light bluish gray. Both of these were rattle cans made by Model Master. Both were Laquer based. I will try to get those paint colors for you when I'm in my shop again.

I did use Tamiya gray primer for the entire thing.

The red and green on LB was Pactra rattle can laquer. The green was a really fine metallic emerald green color and the red was a gloss red (non metallic).

The black was Model Master semi gloss black for the headlamp bracket/stack and pilot braces, gloss black for the tender.

I matched my decals as I created them.......to the colors they were applied on or were supposed to match.

Dave :)

Added the large bolts/nuts to the caboose sides, added the center pilot supports on the loco and took a couple more pics with the wood load and crew for fun.

Dave :)

Wood?

Lilly Belle was a coal burner!

But seriously, that's excellent work. Love the pilot braces.

While it's true that the Lilly Belle was a coal burner, Walt did have a scale wood load on the tender for some beauty shots that were taken at the Studio during the filming of Operation Wonderland in 1951. So, it's not completely inaccurate to display a Lilly Belle model with a wood load.
