Mickey's Toontown Fair StationThis station originally opened in 1988 as Mickey's Birthdayland Station. Featuring a covered waiting platform, the open-air station was the first added to the Walt Disney World Railroad since its opening in 1971. It provided guests easy accesss to the new land, Mickey's Birthdayland, celebrating Mickey Mouse's 60th birthday. The station was renamed Mickey's Starland Station in 1990, and Mickey's Toontown Fair Station in 1996, in keeping with the new names for this area of the park. While Splash Mountain and the new Frontierland Station were under construction in the early 1990's, the Walt Disney World Railroad ran back and forth between the Main Street and Mickey's Starland stations. The trains would run forward from Mickey's Starland to Main Street, and then in reverse back to Mickey's Starland. The water tower is now located at Mickey's Toontown Fair, following the removal of the original water tower during Splash Mountain construction. The engines take on water hourly. The station was torn down and completely rebuilt beginning in May 2004, although its appearance after the rebuilding is almost exactly the same as the original station. | ||
