Kirby Family Farms operators of a 1 1/2 mile narrow gauge line in Williston, Florida have acquired former Opryland 2-4-0 hydraulic driven steam outline "Elizabeth". The engine has sat dormant in storage at Six Flags Over Georgia for several years. The engine has already been moved to Florida and plans are underway to eventually restore the engine.

The engine will join the already operational #19 an 0-4-0 that once ran at the Great America Park in Santa Clara, California. Rumor also has it that more 3 foot gauge equipment will be on its way to the property sometime in the future.

That's great to see the former Great America locomotive actually rolling along. I rode behind that locomotive many times over the years when I was younger. Its also nice to see that it still has its Great America lettering on its tender.

I think this locomotive ran on the 3 restored miles of The Eastern Tennessee & Western North Carolina Railroad for a little while, It's documented here: http://www.stateoffranklin.net/johnsons/crumley/tour15.htm.

The locomotive that ran on the ET&WNC right of way was Opryland's Rachel. Rachel was the only real steamer Opryland had, all the others were steam outlines with motor in the tenders. All of Opryland's locomotives had a similar look. I only visited Opryland four times, but remember the railroad very well. Somewhere I have postcards and photos of some of the locomotives. Youtube has several good videos of tours of the park aboard the train. Glad to see this locomotive go to a good home.
